Since the 1st of July 2013, I have been doing part of my vocational training as a “Human Resources Services Consultant” in the Human Resources department of an Australian company. I am spending the German summer and winter in Australia. The strange weather, the long flight, the cars which drive on the left-hand side and the strange culture doesn’t bother me. I feel that I have settled in here very quickly. I think this might be because everybody in Australia is really friendly. I took English lessons in Melbourne city for the first two weeks to refresh my English. Melbourne is a really pretty, breathtaking city. It seems like the international meeting point of the world. I have met people from all over the world with different cultural backgrounds. After finishing my English lessons, I began my internship. I carry out a lot of similar tasks as I did in Germany but everything seems different. The new surroundings, the new colleagues and the different language makes every day exciting. To be on the first-name basis with everybody and the open-plan office are unusual for me. I am happy about being here and it feels like a great adventure. I hope the time will not pass too fast so that I can enjoy the experience. All in all, I really miss my colleagues at Heitmann and hope you are all well. I am looking forward to seeing you all again in December. Kind regards, Kerstin
